Parent Liaison
Dual Language School
Position Summary: A Parental Liaison works to bridge the communication between school and home by helping parents get the information, help, and support they need to ensure their child's academic and social success in school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Communicate with parents and/or guardians of ELLs onsite at the Dual Language School.
- Establish and cultivate a strong working relationship with staff, parents/guardians, and students.
- Connect families to community based resources, school and district administration, and parent organizations (BELPAC, PTO, School Site Council).
- Attend meetings as needed during school day and occasional evening events to interpret.
- Contact parents and families through phone calls, support teachers in contacting home as needed.
- Provide information to parents concerning district policy and procedures such as registration, PTO, curriculum, assessment, uniform, discipline, etc.
- Provide oral and written translating service for parents, families, teachers, and administrators as needed throughout the year.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applications must include a cover letter, resume, and two references.
- Experience with school systems and structures
- Commitment to and knowledge about the local community
- Solutions-oriented and willing to collaboratively problem solve with a variety of stakeholders.
- Parent of WPS student who qualifies for ELL services or FLEP (former limited English proficient), preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish both verbal and written.
- Computer and technology skills
- Microsoft Office
- Google Suite for Educators
- Ability to multi-task and work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective collaborator.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with students, educators, administrators, community partners, staff, and families via email, phone or in person
- Be empathic and sensitive to confidential information
This is a Title I funded - 19 hr/ week position.
