7 positions (4 MCD, 3 KEN) Summer 2024 School STEP Up Teacher

 

Overview

Teachers will develop lessons and provide high-quality instruction that meet the needs of struggling learners in our STEP Up Summer Program. Teacher applicants must be Massachusetts licensed as an educator and highly qualified in terms of subject matter knowledge and familiarity with the best practices in instruction for all students, the state Common Core curriculum frameworks, grade level benchmarks, a variety of assessment strategies and techniques, and must exhibit effective interpersonal skills. Teachers must be able to work well and collaborate with their peers to develop effective project-based lessons and instructional content aligned to areas of academic need (based off of district and school achievement data), established learning goals, and the content theme of the 2024 STEP Up Program as directed by the program coordinator.

 

Focus of the Program

This program will be open to students attending both Kennedy and McDevitt Middle School who can benefit from additional academic support (rising 6, 7, 8) in August 2024. Students will be engaged in literacy and math instruction through thematic units grounded in core summer reading text with additional enrichment activities.

 

Terms of Employment

The program will be held Monday July 1, - Friday July 26, 2024 (excluding July 4 & 5) at either Kennedy or McDevitt Middle School. Program times for students are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm in addition to a 1 hour prep per day, for a total of (18 days).

 

Salary

WEA Contractual rate for hours worked up to 100 hours.
