Title 3 ELL Summer 2024 Program Paraprofessionals
Overview
Instructional Paraprofessionals are needed to assist teachers in working with newcomer ELL students and supporting English Language development. Paraprofessionals must demonstrate the ability to work with students under the direction of the teacher, follow directions effectively and be familiar with instructional, and safety procedures. They will support and reinforce the teacher’s expectations for students. Paraprofessionals support multilingual learners to acquire language skills and develop their identities as bilingual and bicultural scholars.

Terms of Employment
The program will be held Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 26, 2024, no sessions Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5. Program times for students are 8:30 am - 12:30 pm for a total of (18 days). Paraprofessionals are expected to be on duty at 8:15 am through 12:45 pm. Focus of the Program This program will be open to newcomer Waltham Public School students at WIDA Level 1 and who will be entering grades 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 (elementary) as of September 2024. Students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE) will be prioritized. Students will be engaged in a variety of engaging activities designed to promote academic language aligned with the 2020 WIDA Standards. Instruction will be culturally responsive.
