SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

 

The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can assist teachers in the delivery of instruction to students.

 

Qualifications:

  Education, Training and Experience:

  1. Associate’s (or higher) degree, or
  2. At least two years of post-secondary education that is equivalent to at least 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution, or 
  3. Passing score on the Parapro or WorkKeys test.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work with students, under the direction of the teacher.

  

Knowledge Required:

  1.   Ability to follow directions effectively.
  2.   Familiarity with student instructional and disciplinary procedures.

Abilities Required:

  1.   Ability to implement assigned tasks and activities.
  2.   Diligence in monitoring students’ safety and security.
  3.   Ability to support and reinforce the teacher’s expectations for students.

Skills Required:

  1.   Able to follow directions promptly and effectively.
  2.   Able to relate to students as a caring adult.
  3.   Able to work with students on academic tasks assigned by the teacher.

 

Supervision:

  Supervision Scope:

  Supervises students and evaluates their achievement.

  Supervision Given and Received:

  Supervised by principal and/or director.

  2. Utilizes educational materials properly.
  3. Helps to maintain a pleasant, neat and well-organized classroom.
  4. Performs scheduled duties promptly.
  5. Fulfills paperwork responsibilities promptly.
  6. Maintains professional competence through in-service educational activities.

Salary:    As per the WEA contract.
