Technology/Engineering Teacher

 

Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to have an individual who can provide instruction to middle school students and provide the students with the experience of learning technology and engineering in a project based learning environment.

 

Description of Duties:

  • Implementing and developing the Mass state curriculum frameworks.
  • Proficient in engineering design, materials, tools and manufacturing, and technology systems.
  • The curriculum adheres to and supports the engineering and manufacturing portion of the Science MCAS.
  • Work independently and with colleagues to teach and maintain a program of study that meets all the requirements of Mass State frameworks and prepares students for learning all aspects of the curriculum.
  • Adapting curriculum and Project Based Learning effectively and efficiently for a diverse student population including students with special needs, disabilities and limited proficiency in English.
  • Instruction must be compliant with all health and safety regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a network of business professionals in the Technology and Engineering industries.
  • Perform the duties of a teacher including maintaining attendance, grades, and other duties associated with being a faculty member of Waltham Public Schools.
  • Maintain all Technology equipment in good working order including planning and implementing appropriate upgrades to Technology equipment to reflect industry trends and standards.

Supervises students and evaluates their achievement.

 

Supervision Given and Received:

Supervised by principal and/or director.

 

Qualifications: Qualified applicants must forward cover letter, resume, transcripts, proof of MA DESE license and SEI Endorsement as well as three current letters of recommendation

 

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Education to teach grades 6-8.
  • A clear understanding of Mass State Frameworks. 
  • A thorough knowledge of how to teach the competencies and standards of the Technology/Engineering frameworks. 
  • Successful experience with and/or a strong commitment to Cultural Proficiency and the success of all students in a diverse urban population.
  • Demonstrated capacity to modify instruction to help meet the needs of all students enrolled in the program.
  • Teaching experience preferred.

 

SalaryAs per the WEA contract.
