The Waltham Public Schools is seeking dynamic and passionate teachers for our Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Evening Program. Our organization is committed to providing high-quality education and support to adult learners in our community who are seeking to improve their English language skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive ESL lessons to adult learners.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and interaction.
- Assess students' language proficiency and progress regularly. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their language development.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
- Stay informed about best practices in ESL teaching and incorporate them into lesson plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (Degrees in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field are preferred but not required)
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with adult learners.
- Familiarity with ESL teaching methodologies.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of adult learners.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Terms of Employment:
The program will run Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:00-6:30 pm beginning in late January and running through the end of May.
Salary $39/hour. For every hour of instruction teachers will also be compensated for a half hour of prep.
